Life Trockenrasen: Grazing

Grazing

Extensive grazing is intended to keep dry grassland areas open. Forest succession is prevented and the treading damage creates small areas of bare ground.
Sheep are primarily used for grazing, but in some areas robust cattle or certain horse breeds are also used. The development of livestock trails is intended to on the one hand improve the biotope network between individual dry grassland sites and on the other hand allow traditional pasture use.

The project primarily supports regional land users by bearing the cost of the initial establishment of new pastures. This includes the purchase of mobile, wolf-proof fencing systems and drinking troughs as well as the installation of fixed paddocks with shelters.

Das Projekt LIFE Trockenrasen
