Life Trockenrasen: Inland Dunes with Open Corynephorus and Agrostis Grasslands

Inland Dunes with Open Corynephorus and Agrostis Grasslands (HT 2330)

Inland dunes with open Corynephorus and Agrostis grasslands are mainly found in the north-west and north-east German lowlands (see habitat distribution map of Germany). Similar to habitat type 2310, this habitat type occurs in Brandenburg on the inland dunes of large river valleys and the Heidesee area.

The sand dunes were formed long after the ice ages by sand drifts. The vegetation is very sparse and patchy due to the extremely high temperatures and low water availability. Grasses dominate this habitat and are the first pioneer species.
